Sand Springs Senior Citizens Center is a friendly gathering place. Lunch is served at 11:00 a.m. on weekdays, but pool, dominoes, and cards are before and after lunch. There are a plethora of activities and classes, plus dances, quilting, AARP and chair exercising classes.
•everyday activities include: card games, pool, and dominoes
• Mondays and Wednesdays are Tai Chi exercises. An interesting sideline is that right after the calm, gentle Tai Chi classes, the group has begun to learn LINE DANCING which is serious dancing and they are willing to teach other people.
• Tuesdays and Thursdays are chair exercises. The first part is sitting while you move, and the next part is standing. These are mild exercises.
• Quilting Circle meets every Monday at 2:00, ending at 4:00. There is quilting, crocheting, knitting and other handcrafts.
• AARP is the second and fourth Thursdays beginning at 2:00 and ending at 6:00 p.m. No membership is required. Card games of 10-point pitch, hand-and-foot (a form of canasta) and Skipbo. Everyone brings some food to share and eating begins at 4:00, then more card games until 6:00.
• Saturday night dances twice a month are well attended. The first Saturday and third Saturday of each month are the dates and these dances are well attended. Dancing begins at 6:00 p.m. but come early if you want a parking place. Bring a snack food to be shared. We close the evening out at 9:00 p.m.
